Cutting workshop

  • formulate hypotheses on the use of the object (mobilize one's knowledge)

  • acquire a precise vocabulary (name the different parts and their function)

  • use the object, practice cutting by placing the fingers correctly

First session :

Arrange the scissors on the table

-> how do you use it?

 

Name the different parts of the object, explaining their function

  • blades for cutting

  • the rings to place his fingers (the thumb and the middle finger, the index finger placed below)

       

 

Next sessions:    Practice cutting

Some activities to develop cutting skills

  • Cut pieces of modeling clay

  • Cut strips of cardboard packaging (cereals, etc.) with a single scissor stroke

  • Cut wider strips - multiple snips

  • Cutting in the length - displacement of the other hand

  • Use of less rigid cardboard (cartoline - canson paper, etc.)

  • Paper cutting (thin strips, wide strips, more or less wide lengths, simple shapes, complex shapes, word labels, etc.)

Help: stick a sticker on the thumbnail to get the students used to positioning the wrist correctly
