Why ?
Exemplary and simple story.
It's an initiatory tale : move from the state of a child to the autonomy of an adult
it shows happy experiences, but also unhappy ones, it does not hide the truth.
It also shows that in life it is necessary to alternate principles of pleasure and principles of reality (duties)
Like many tales, passage from an initial state to a final state thanks to a transformation.

Analysis of the first two episodes :
transgression of family and social demands.
The punishment is progressive.
The only way out is the family, the return home (morality)
Analysis of the last episode :
He wakes up adult, he is capable of personal initiatives and risk-taking (fear is overcome) there is no pleasure.

Individual point of view:
Any personal evolution is due to a problem situation of the individual. The quest is long towards adulthood and total autonomy.

The hero (one and only from start to finish)
the hero receives a very clear contract, dictated by the fairy - what is at stake is his autonomy.
He is a hero who appeals to children because he does not only have qualities. He's not an overly positive hero. He has the initiative, not too submissive, courageous, he takes risks, naive, he trusts too much, he suffers two failures before the redemptive test.
The redemptive ordeal is pleasant because it is the child who saves the life.
The child can easily identify.
2. The many characters

Pinocchio... from Guillermo del Toro
Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro revisits Carlo Collodi's tale about a puppet that magically comes to life to soothe the heart of a woodcarver named Geppetto.
This stop-motion musical fantasy epic directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson follows the adventures of mischievous and disobedient Pinocchio as he searches for his place in the world.
This new movie is not made for childrenand shows another face of the hero, more faithful to the original tale. Here, Pinocchio disobeys and has nothing of the model little boy.
The story is transposed into a specific political context: the Italy of Mussolini. Guillermo del Toro recounts the rise of facism in his own way and confronts the figure of Pinocchio with the horrors of war.
